Large Dramatic Navajo Vintage Thunderbird Necklace - Sacred Eagle, Green Turquoise
Magnificent THUNDERBIRD (Ceremonial Eagle) vintage Navajo Native American Necklace... What a vibrant, wild and beautiful bird! Its wings are stretched wide, symbolising freedom and protection. Five nuggets of Turquoise indicate the traditional Four Directions of power radiating around one's place on the Earth. It's a vintage piece, my guess is 20-30 years old, completely handmade with natural Green turquoise nuggets that glow in the sunshine. The silverwork is extraordinary, with special attention to the feathered patterns on the Eagle. As typical with older Native jewellery, the pendant doubles as a pin if un-clipped carefully from its string of hand-stamped Silver beads. All the silver is Sterling, and this elegant piece is in great shape for wearing and treasuring for future generations. Signed by the artist. I've attached a large number of images to give you a complete look at this impressive, unique piece. Absolutely and forever "one of a kind" ... ENJOY!
