Taos Tribal cuff bracelet - Sacred Spiral - vintage sterling & turquoise
A spectacular, strong and powerful cuff bracelet, made in Taos New Mexico in 1993, according to the artist's markings on the back. It is made using features of traditional Native silverwork - including the braided silver accents and "raindrop" decorations, and the Navajo tribal style feathers on the side. Markings on the back say DOVE and TAOS 93. The exact name of the artist is not clear... The central design on the face of the cuff is intriguing; it's a sacred spiral, geometrically done (almost Aztec!) winding inwards toward the bright turquoise gemstone at its centre. Like a maze or labyrinth... the design also suggests the sacred Four Directions of Native spirituality. Wear with pride! It's a very special piece.
Measurements: Face (widest part) of bracelet: 4.5 cm across. Will fit a 7 inch / 18 cm or smaller wrist. Silver band is 16 cm around, with a 3 cm gap. Square turquoise in centre is .6 cm on a side. Weight = a substantial 77 grams. Maker's marks: DOVE TAOS 93. A unisex bracelet, would fit a medium-large women's, or medium-small man's wrist.
